Founded in November 2015, Skelter Labs is an artificial intelligence technology company developing innovative machine intelligence technology that is designed to enhance the quality of the users’ daily lives. Skelter Labs particularly funnels its technological capabilities in developing Intelligent Virtual Assistant technology that can be widely applied to various areas including smart speakers, smartphones, home appliances, automobiles and wearable devices.
Ted graduated in Computer Engineering from Seoul National University and continued his academia path at renowned KAIST to complete his MSc and PhD in Artificial Intelligence. His early research work was rewarded with the best paper award from the Korea Information Science Society in 1990. Supervised by Prof. Jin H. Kim, the leading authority in Korea for artificial intelligence, Ted obtained his PhD in 1995. His thesis presented a new handwritten word recognition method employing hidden Markov models as the main framework.
Ted started his international career as visiting researcher at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. Since then Ted has built the last 20 years several successful tech companies and became one of the leaders of Korea’s first startup generation expanding to global markets. Prior to founding Skelter Labs in 2015, Ted served seven years as Engineering Site Director at Google Korea.
Doug is co-founder at Skelter Labs and oversees the company’s growth, financial operations and business pipelines as Chief Operating Officer. After Doug completed in 1994 his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan, he joined the LG Electronics San Jose office where he managed LGE’s partnerships with Apple Computer and Xerox for its video compression technology. Inspired by the startup and innovation ecosystem of Silicon Valley, Doug spent the following years building his own ventures and cutting edge technology including DialPad, one of the first successful VoIP internet services, which was sold to Yahoo! in 2005.
As a skilled entrepreneur, Doug is the owner and founder of a mobile app development startup, multiple software solution and IT infrastructure service providing companies.
Seongjin is one of co-founders at Skelter Labs and leads the company’s technical direction and strategic planning with regards to the development process. The talented CTO oversees the entire Deep Learning project at Skelter Labs, which is considered one of our strongest assets
The former Googler has total of 11 years of experience in software engineering and served as one of core senior engineers at Google Korea where he led the Entity Page, Knowledge Graph and Bubblegum team as a Tech Leader.
Seongjin holds BS and MS in Computer Science from KAIST, Advanced Research on Compilers and Systems Lab.
Jungyeol, another co-founder at Skelter Labs, plays a tactical role as a leading engineer. As one of Tech Leaders, he manages a series of engineering process of Project Iris, a context recognition technology project.
Jungyeol was part of the Search team responsible for Korean Knowledge in Google search pages, understanding full pipeline of knowledge panel generations. In addition, the former Googler led the 2014 Sochi winter olympic inbox product, grammar based query generation to trigger olympic game results in Google search results, globally launched in 40+ languages.
Jungyeol holds BS and MS in Computer Science from KAIST, Artificial Intelligence and Probabilistic Reasoning Lab.
